Paul Pitchford Jr., Du Quoin

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Paul Pitchford Jr., 88, of Du Quoin passed away at 7 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017, at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.<br /> Paul had worked at Decca Records, and he had been owner and operator of a school bus service. Paul was also a contractor and worked security at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. Paul was an avid clock collector. Paul was of the Christian faith. Paul was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Du Quoin American Legion.<br /> Paul was born Feb. 23, 1929, in Tamaroa, the son of Paul A. and Anna Elizabeth (Zoeckler) Pitchford.<br /> Paul married Marilyn J. Adelman Oct. 3, 1953, in Springfield, and she preceded him in death Feb. 2, 2016.<br /> Paul is survived by one daughter, Priscilla Craig and husband Loren of Du Quoin; three step-grandchildren, Jason Craig and Marcia Hill of Pinckneyville, Jarid Craig and Jessica Williams of Austin, Texas, and Josh Craig of Du Quoin; three step-great-grandchildren, Darrah, Finnegan and Willow; one step-great-great-grandchild, Abel; and his cat, Midnite.<br /> Paul was preceded in death by his parents and wife.<br /> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1085_1250" tabindex="0">Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Rev. Bruce Walker and the Rev. John Pitchford officiating.</span><br /> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1251_1328" tabindex="0">Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.</span><br /> Burial will be at Tamaroa Cemetery in Tamaroa.<br /> Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the Army National Guard.<br /> Friends may make memorials to the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life or the Perry County Humane Society.
