Harold A. Pundsack

Harold A. 'Happy Harold' Pundsack, 83, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:35 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013 at his residence.

Harold had worked at the wash house and had been a Caterpillar driver at Freeman United Coal Company for several years. He had also worked as a rural route mail carrier, worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company and had been an Aide on handicap buses. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. Harold was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the UMW of A, Du Quoin V.F.W., Du Quoin American Legion and Du Quoin Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and car racing. Harold never met a stranger.

He was born July 6, 1930 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of August Herman and Anna Elizabeth (Harsy) Pundsack.

He married Lola Mae Walker on June 5, 1952 at the Sacred Heart Rectory in Du Quoin and she preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 2006.

He is survived by one daughter - Debra Olinger and husband Jon Michael of Du Quoin, two grandchildren - Kellie Janelle May and husband Matt and Leslie Mae Tennison, all of Du Quoin, one great grandson - Owen May of Du Quoin, one great grandchild on the way, five step grandchildren, four step great grandchildren and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Nick Junker and Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

A prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the Army National Guard.

Friends may make memorials to the American Red Cross Little Egypt, 556 N. Airport Rd., Murphysboro, IL 62966 and will be accepted at the funeral home.
