Three hurt in Airport Road crash
Three people were injured after a two-vehicle crash on June 1 on Airport Road at Hunterfield Road.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office crash report, a 2000 Ford F-150 - driven by 58-year-old Doris Harper of Tilden - was traveling eastbound on Airport Road and slowed down to make a left turn onto Hunterfield Road.
The report states that during this process, the F-150 was struck in the rear by an eastbound 2002 Lincoln Continental driven by 16-year Percy resident Sandra Gower.
The force of the impact caused the F-150 across the intersection and off the roadway, striking a ditch and then continuing into a soybean field. The Continental remained at the point of impact.
Gower was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. She, Harper and a 69-year-old passenger in Harper's vehicle, Ray Harper, were all transported to Sparta Community Hospital for treatment of injuries.
A 17-year-old passenger in Gower's vehicle, Mariah McCann of Cutler, did not sustain injuries requiring medical transport. The accident was reported at 5:59 p.m.
