Two injured in Eden Road accident

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle collision on June 7 on Eden Road at North Sparta Street.

According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office crash report, 80-year-old Bernie Hubert, of Steeleville, was driving a 2009 Buick LaCrosse east on Eden Road, coming to a stop at the intersection with North Sparta Street.

A 2007 Jeep Wrangler, driven by 18-year-old Taylor Hepp, of Steeleville, was traveling south on North Sparta Street approaching the same intersection.

The report states Hubert proceeded onto North Sparta Street/Eden Road in attempt to get to his driveway across the roadway. The Wrangler attempted to avoid a collision, but the vehicles struck each other.

The LaCrosse came to rest in the roadway facing south, while the Wrangler ran off the left side of the roadway and came to rest in the grass facing south.

Hubert and a 17-year-old passenger in Hepp's vehicle, Steeleville resident Mallory Moore, were transported to Sparta Community Hospital for treatment.

Hubert was ticketed for failure to yield and the accident was reported at 7:48 p.m.
