Pinckneyville Extends New Wave Franchise 10 Years

The Pinckneyville City Council Monday voted unanimously to extend the cable television/internet franchise agreement with New Wave Communications for 10 years. The new contract will expire June 17, 2012.

City Attorney Roger Seibert said the terms of the contract are identical to the previous contracts with other cable providers. He stressed that the city cannot compel the franchisee to provide specific services or to change their rates.
