Democrats endorse Epplin, Gross, Kellerman & Taylor in 2014 race
The Perry County Democrat Central Committee Tuesday formally announced its endorsements for the November 2014 general election.
Local Democrats met Aug. 19 at the Perry County Courthouse. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the party's endorsements . The committee unanimously endorsed all four current incumbents.
Perry County board of commissioners member Jim Epplin has served the county since being first elected in 2008. County Clerk Josh Gross was recently appointed to fill the vacancy left by Kevin Kern in April 2013. Sherriff Keith Kellerman has served Perry County since first being elected in 1998. County Treasurer Bill Taylor has served Perry County since being elected 2002.
Party Chairman Nick Dolce was said, "We are proud to endorse such a strong slate of candidates. We are confident these four individuals will represent our county and party well for many years to come."
Other officials endorsed include State Representatives candidate in the 115th Tony Mayville, Representative Jerry Costello from the 116th District, Michael Frerichs for State Treasurer, Sheila Simon for Comptroller, Lisa Madigan for Attorney General, Jesse White for Secretary of State, Donna Boros Regional Superintendent of Schools and Representative Bill Enyart in the 12th Congressional District.
Candidates for all offices must file between Nov. 25 and Dec. 2. The General Primary will be held March 18, 2014. Candidates nominated in the Primary will advance to the General Election to be held Nov. 6, 2014.
