Water main replacement on South Madison Street this week; update on Spillway Road

The City of Du Quoin would like to make residents aware of an upcoming water main replacement to occur on South Madison Street between the American Legion and Chip Banks Chevrolet.

This project will begin on Monday, August 5th with expected completion on Thursday, Aug. 15. The latter portion of the project will likely cause interruptions in water service for 1 - 4 hours as well as a boil order for 24 – 48 hours for the following affected area: Route 51 to the west, East Jackson Street to the north, Cottonwood Lane to the east, and Chip Banks Chevrolet to the south.

Businesses and residences on Route 51 that are on the west side of it or that are north of Grant Way will NOT be affected.

The City would also like to remind citizens that the City Lake Spillway will not re-open until Monday, Aug. 5 to allow the concrete to further cure. The City thanks all residents affected for their continued patience as this project nears completion.
