John Clay Daffron
John Clay Daffron, 74, of Red Bud, Ill., passed away at 12:11 p.m., Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
John was a retired control room operator at the Ballwin Power Plant. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam. He had also been a crossing guard for the schools in the City of Red Bud for 15 years.
He was born Jan. 4, 1939 at Pinckneyville, Ill., the son of James C. and Rose (Schramm) Daffron.
He is survived by his significant other - Mary Koenitz of Red Bud, Ill., one son - Thomas Daffron, one sister - Odell Stevenson of Pinckneyville, Ill. and one sister-in-law - Carole Daffron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters - Ida Mae Rich, Ruth Sawyer and Norma Stanton, and one brother - Thomas C. Daffron.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion.
Friends may make memorials to any V.F.W. in John's name and will be accepted at the funeral home.
