Mildred Louise George
Mildred Louise George, 80, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:30 a.m., Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Fair Acres Rehab and Care Center in Du Quoin.
Mildred had been a CNA for 19 years at the Pinckneyville Healthcare and Fair Acres Nursing Home. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was born Sept. 4, 1932 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of Bill and Dora (Gant) Scarber.
She married Edward George on Dec. 1, 1974 at Du Quoin, Ill. and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, one son - William Pursell of Pinckneyville, one daughter - Cathy Pursell Clayborne of Murfreesboro, Tenn., nine siblings - Charles Scarber of Du Quoin, Billie Scarber of Du Quoin, Jerry Scarber of Du Quoin, Glenda Doerflein of Du Quoin, Rose Cook of Du Quoin, Vi Johnson of Aurora, Sharon Sizemore of Du Quoin, Richard Scarber of Du Quoin, Marilyn Clark of Du Quoin, five grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild, and two sisters - Norma Overocker and Helen Scarber.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Darryl Williams officiating.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
