Beulah May Ferguson
Beulah May Ferguson, age 98, of Salem and formerly of Sandoval, passed away at 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 29 at her home. She was the Elevator Operator at the Statler Hotel, a homemaker and a cook at Moe's Rest in Du Quoin. She worked and baked in the kitchen at the Regional Country Music Opry and baked cakes for cake walks at local firefighter picnics. She was a Sandoval Election Judge for several years.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1916 in Elk Township, Illinois to Stephen Albert Landreth and Ethel W. (Alexander) Landreth. She married Wiley James Fersuon on Feb. 19, 1942 in Cape Girardeau, Illinois.
Surviving are her daughter, Ellen Storment and husband Billy of Salem; sons, Wiley Ferguson of Independence, Missouri, Thomas Ferguson and wife Shirley of Du Quoin; grandchildren Dawn Coles, Walter Ferguson, Gabriel Ferguson, Kathy Bauer, Ellen Cason, Shelly James, Steven Ferguson, Jimmy Ferguson and Marisa Ferguson; great grandchildren Tony Coles, Declan Coles, Skyann Coles, Kayla Bauer, Ian Bauer, Cory McDonald, Noah James, Erin, Austin, Trenton, Trevor and Tucker Ferguson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Katie Wooden; a grandson, John Cason II; a great grandson, John Cason III.; brothers, Hardy, Elva, Homer, Chester and George; sisters, Clara, Ada, Myrtle, Lillian, Maxine, Gladys, Berniece and Alma.
Funeral Services were held on Sunday, Feb. 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home with Doug Williams Presiding. Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial followed at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Du Quoin. Memorials can be made to the family and can be left at the funeral home.
