Marion Woman's Club honors former mayor, Butler

The Marion Woman's Club recently honored former mayor, Robert Butler, and his wife, Louetta, with a gift to commemorate his longtime service to the community.

Club member Jaclyn Hancock presented Butler with a desk clock made with a large plaque that folded to support it. Hancock conducted the presentation Jan. 25 at Marion City Hall in place of President Betty Deaton, who was ill.

Also present were club members Claire Giles, Loretta Crosson, Wanda Zwick and Dorothy Turner.

Butler was truly appreciative, saying that the gift was "awesome."

The tribute was made possible by a generous gift to the club.

At the Feb. 2 club meeting, members continued to show their appreciation for the service of others by making tray favors of pretzels and candy for 50 patients at Marion VA Medical Center.
