Marty L. Brimmer

Marty L. Brimmer, 55, of Rome, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at his home in Rome.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon, Iowa with Rev. Dave Albert officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until service time at the church on Monday. Burial will be at a later date in the Otterville Cemetery, Otterville, Iowa. A memorial has been established in his memory.

Marty was born on Dec. 26, 1956, in Ottumwa, Iowa the son of Gilbert and Jean Marie Davis Brimmer. He was united in marriage to Lisa Boettger in October of 1981. He served his country in the Army and was honorably discharged in January of 1977. Marty trained and raised horses and was a blacksmith, in his spare time he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa and his daughters, E.J (Brian) Murphy, Molly Brimmer and Natalie Brimmer all of Rome; two granddaughters, Lisa and Lexie; his brothers and sisters: Dannie Brimmer of the Philippines, Wilma Griffin of Des Moines, Allen Brimmer of Independence, Don Brimmer of Cedar Rapids, Willard Brimmer of Eldon, Ila Doud of Des Moines and Dick Brimmer of Waterloo.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents.
