Lady Indians fall at Anna-Jonesboro

JONESBORO - Anna-Jonesboro handed the Du Quoin High School softball team a 9-2 loss in SIRR Mississippi Division play Monday.

Du Quoin trailed just 2-1 after Kaylee Aleshire was hit by a pitch and scored on a double by Katie Smith in the top of the fifth, but Anna-Jonesboro plated four runs in the bottom half, then hit three solo homers in the sixth.

Smith singled and scored Du Quoin's other run in the seventh. Du Quoin had just four hits and Smith had two of them - Aleshire and Maci McKinnies had the others.

"We are having a hard time getting anything going at the plate the last few games," said Du Quoin coach Jason James. "We will continue to work to get things back on track."

Du Quoin was scheduled to host Nashville on Tuesday and Carterville on Thursday.
