Charles J. "Charlie" Gant of Elkville

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Charles J. "Charlie" Gant, 75, of Elkville passed away peacefully with his family at 1:05 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2017, at Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.<br /> Charlie had been a machine operator at General Cable. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. Charles was a lifelong fitness, martial arts, action film, tropical fish, Long John Silver's, bad joke, automobile, husband, friend, father and grandfather enthusiast.<br /> He was born June 28, 1941 in Mulkeytown, the son of Wesley Charles and Juanita Imogene (Bullock) Gant.<br /> He married Sharon R. Curran in July 1962 in Chicago, and she survives.<br /> He is survived by his wife of Elkville; two sons, Steven M. Gant and wife Emily Ilene Howard of St. Louis and Brian S. Gant and wife Melissa of North Hollywood, Calif.; one grandchild, Ronin M. Gant of North Hollywood, Calif.; and one sister, Viola Bryant of Steeleville.<br /> He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Gant.<br /> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1026_1132" tabindex="0">Memorial visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.</span><br /> Friends may make memorials to the American Kidney Foundation.
