Obituary for Verna B. Knott

VERNA B. KNOTT, 93, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 3:41 am, Friday, January 29, 2016 at Chester Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Chester.

She was born to the late Louis and Ella (nee:Goetting) Brase on July 1, 1922 in Steeleville.

She married Vernon Thomas Knott on October 11, 1943, in Bennettsville, South Carolina. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1986.

Verna was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, American Legion Auxiliary in Chester and AFSCME Retiree.

She was retired from working as a food supervisor at Menard Correctional Center.

Survivors include two children: Gary Knott Patton, Mo., Sharon Vogt, Columbia; 7 grandchildren: Mike (Pam) Knott, Perryville, Mo., Crystal (Mike) Duensing, Chester, Josh Knott (special friend Ashley Webb) Patton, Mo., Lisa Vogt-Baczynski (Matthew) Columbia, Jason Knott (Fiancée Diane Rathert) Chester, James (Jennifer) Knott Ellis Grove, Jared (Tina) Knott St. Louis, Mo.; Two step-grandchildren Lindsey Cowen, Jimmy Thielemann, Jr.; Nine great-grandchildren; Two great-great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: Parents, Husband - Vernon Knott, 1 Son - Dale Knott, 1 Son-in-law - Bernard Vogt, 1 Grandson - Eric Vogt, 1 Sister - Norma Uchtman and Brother-in-law - Norris Uchtman

Funeral Service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, Illinois with Rev. Tim Landskroener officiating.

Interment was at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville.
