Janet Loretta Davis

Janet Loretta Davis, 71, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 at the Herrin Hospital in Herrin.

Janet had been a homemaker. She had also worked at Coca-Cola and had run a laundromat. She was a member of the Spirit of Life Christian Church in Du Quoin.

She was born Dec. 9, 1943 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of Joseph Benton and Dorothy Lucille (Rice) Roberts.

She married Samuel Joseph Davis on June 3, 1961 at the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church in Du Quoin and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, three children - Barbara Kay Vaz and husband Carlyle of Rogers, Ark., Cindy R. Lampley of Benton and Sam W. Davis and wife Alicia of Du Quoin, two sisters - Wilma Zettler of Tamaroa and JoAnn Roberts of Reno, Nev., one brother - Marion David Roberts of Tamaroa, 11 grandchildren - Meagan Nicole Jarrett and husband Chase, Kaitlin Ariel Barnett, Amie Colleen Barnett, Arren Vaz, Andrew Vaz, Sara Vaz, Eiann Vaz, Elijah Alvis Lampley, Ryan Joseph Davis, Alexis Faith Davis and Kelly Elizabeth Davis and six great grandchildren - Aiden Jarrett, Faolin Jarrett, Harrison Finney, Seth Walton, Lydia Vaz and Violet Oetting.

She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings - Opal Samples, Virginia Roberts, Helen Roberts, Billy Roberts, Bobby Roberts, Alice Dorsey, Fred Roberts, James Roberts and Kenneth Wayne Roberts.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Pastor Kenneth Tiffin and Rev. Gerald Wright officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery at Tamaroa.

Friends may make memorials to the Spirit of Life Christian Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
