Gregory Stephan Bigham
Gregory Stephan "Steve" Bigham, age 66, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away at home on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014.
Steve was born on Dec. 4, 1947, in Mattoon, Illinois, to Edward and Bridget (Bruns) Bigham. On June 7, 1969, he married Judy K. (Dempsay) Bigham in Concord Baptist Church, Rice, Ill. Steve was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He worked for Arch Coal at Captain Mine for 27 years, retiring as a second shift superintendent. After retirement, Steve enjoyed sitting on his deck and watching his grandkids play. He also enjoyed target shooting with his kids and grandkids.
Steve is survived by his wife, Judy Bigham of Pinckneyville, Ill.; his children, Julie (Rick) Eggers of Columbia, Ill., Lisa (Rob) Bequette of Jackson, Mo., Douglas Bigham (Shawn Law) of Austin, Tex., Rebecca (Thomas) McCrary of Pinckneyville, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Hayden, Holden and Kaylyn Bequette, Sophia and Cecilia Eggers, Deianira and Briseia McCrary and a stepgrandson, Austin Bequette; three brothers, Rodger Bigham of Shreveport, La., Robert (Laura) Bigham of Belleville, Ill. and James (Alyscia) Bigham of O'Fallon, Ill.; one sister, Bridget (Eugene) Moody of Pinckneyville, Ill.; five sisters-in-law, Thuy Bigham of San Diego, Calif., Carla Bigham of Elkville, Ill., Goldie (Charlie) Rizzo of Cocoa, Fla., Patricia Dempsay of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Melba Flowers of Arab, Ala.; two brothers-in-law, Louis Dean (Joan) Dempsay of San Antonio, Fla. and Jack (Joanie) Dempsay of Gulf Shores, Ala. and many nieces and nephews who all loved him very much. He will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Bridget Bigham; two brothers, Thomas Bigham and David Bigham; two sisters-in-law, Jenny Bruns and Carol Bigham; two brothers-in-law, William Dempsay and Frank Shrum; father-in-law, Bud Dempsay; mother-in-law, Ruth (Todd) Dempsay and two nieces, Anissa Bigham and Amy Dempsay.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill., on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Sam Higgerson officiating. Interment will be in Concord Baptist Cemetery, Rice, Ill., with military graveside rites by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pincknevyille, Ill., on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery or Concord Baptist Cemetery.
