Dorcas Ione Criswell

Dorcas Ione Criswell, 91, of Elkville, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Dorcas had been a homemaker and was a cashier and clerk for Montgomery County Bank. She was a 60-year member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Dorcas had been the church pianist, organist and Sunday School teacher. She had joined the Elkville Baptist Church in 1993.

She was born Feb. 7, 1923 at Hillsboro, Ill., the daughter of Cleveland Daniel and Flossie Valeria (Hill) Micenheimer.

She married LeRoy Thomas Criswell on April 27, 1941 at Nokomis, Ill. and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2000.

She is survived by one daughter-in-law - Media E. Criswell of Elkville, two granddaughters - Lorie Lyn Davis and husband Bryant of Dowell and Patsy Jo Mitchell and husband Thomas of Elkville, five great grandchildren - Christopher Davis and wife Sharon of Corning, Ark., Matthew Davis and wife Erika of Dowell, Phillip Davis and wife Ashley of Dowell, Nicholas Mitchell and Jennifer VanZandt of Carterville and Noah Mitchell and Dalton Swafford of Elkville, seven great great grandchildren - Freedom Davis, Jackson Davis, Lillyanna Davis, Aiden Mitchell, Liam Mitchell, Annalise Davis and Noella Davis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son - Harry Leroy Criswell, two brothers - Harold Micenheimer and Melvin Micenheimer and two sisters - Mable Mehlberg and Mayola Driscoll.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Leland Redfern officiating.

Friends may call from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Elkville Cemetery at Elkville.

Friends may make memorials to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
