Rosalyn E. Powers

Rosalyn E. "Rose" Powers, age 60, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at 8:48 a.m. in her home.

Rose was born on Dec. 27, 1953 in Olney, Ill., a daughter to Charles A. and Evelyn (Johnston) Koertge. In 1978, she married William "Bill" Powers in Mulberry Grove, Ill. and he survives. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill., a social worker for 5-Star Industries for five years and then a case coordinator for Southern Illinois Coordination Services for the State of Illinois for several years. Rose was an avid flower gardener and dearly loved their dog, Quinn.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Powers of Pinckneyville, Ill.; mother, Evelyn Koertge of Mulberry Grove, Ill.; three brothers, David (Vick) Koertge of Mulberry Grove, Ill., Donald Ray (Brenda) Koertge of Plano, Tex. and Richard J. (Barbara) Koertge of Chatham, Ill. and several dear nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill., on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Jim Barnett officiating. Interment will be on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Mulberry Grove Cemetery, Mulberry Grove, Ill.

Friends may call at the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill., on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
