Mark David Howerton

Mark David Howerton, 64, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Mark had been a driller for Consolidated #2 Coal Mine.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin. He was a member of the UMW of A and the Du Quoin VFW.

He was born July 6, 1949 at Du Quoin, Ill. the son of Loren and Marjorie (Downs) Howerton.

Mark married Donna Sue Loucks on Aug. 20, 1971 at Du Quoin, Ill. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, son- Derek Loren Howerton and wife Holly of Du Quoin, five grandchildren- Draven, Chance, Seth, Joseph and Brenna, three sisters- Sheila Metten and husband Tom of Du Quoin, Crystal Kwasman of West Chicago and Cathy Markee and husband Rick of Bernardsville, N.J.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law- Mike Kwasman.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Lester Loucks officiating.

Friends may call from Noon until time of service at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
