V. Richard Perrachione

V. Richard Perrachione, 88, of Tamaroa, passed away at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at the Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.

Richard had been a math instructor. He began his career at Sparta High School. He then taught math at Tamaroa High School, where he also coached all boys sports. Richard also taught at Mount Vernon High School and Mount Vernon Community College. He was one of the founding teachers at Rend Lake College, teaching math for 20 years. He retired in May of 1987. He was a member of the Friendship Church of Christ in Tamaroa. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Richard was a member of the American Legion.

He was born Jan. 26, 1925 at Tamaroa, Ill., the son of Sylvester and Louise (Pol) Perrachione.

He married Lorraine 'Tommie' Miller on March 30, 1951 at the Friendship Church of Christ in Tamaroa and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Tamaroa, one daughter - Debra Ann Reid of Allen, Tex., one son - Darren Richard Perrachione and wife Elizabeth of Champaign, Ill., two grandsons - Craig Lee Reid and Scott Lee Reid, both of Austin, Tex., two granddaughters - Lori Renee Perrachione of Campabella, S.C. and Zoey Grace Perrachione of Champaign, Ill., one niece - Tinnie Moss and husband Bob and one nephew - John Richard Perrachione.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law - Andrew Reid, one brother - Jean Perrachione and wife Mary, three sisters - Virginia Boyles and husband Mike, Florina White and husband Albert and Lena Perrachione in infancy, one grandson - Theodore Richard Perrachione and one nephew - Albert F. Boyles.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at the Friendship Church of Christ in Tamaroa with Bro. Darrell McCombs and Bro. Randy Allison officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday.

Burial will be in the Tamaroa Cemetery at Tamaroa.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the Army National Guard.

Friends may make memorials to the Friendship Church of Christ and will be accepted at the funeral home.
