JoAnn Waltemate

JoAnn Waltemate, 77, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:21 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

JoAnn was a homemaker. She was of Baptist faith.

She was born June 18, 1936 at Du Quoin, Ill. the daughter of Earl and Florence (Stevens) Killingsworth.

She married Larry Joe Waltemate on March 29, 1971 at Du Quoin, Ill. and he passed away Nov. 23, 2011.

She is survived by five children- Jack Pierce of Du Quoin, Cindy Laur of Elkville, Tony Pierce and wife Trina of Paducah, Ky., Jesse Pierce of Benton and Micki Corley and husband Tom of Murphysboro, 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, four sisters- Carolyn Parker of Smyrna, Tenn., Barbara Neville of Du Quoin, Violet Shelton of Du Quoin and Phyllis Woodside of Pinckneyville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother- Lester Conner, sister- Janice Atkins and two sisters in infancy.

Memorial services will be at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Kim Magwire officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be at a later date.
