Jacob L. Bender Jr.
Jacob L."Jakie" Bender Jr., age 70, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 at 2:45 a.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Carbondale, Ill.
Jakie was born on Aug. 8, 1943 in Pinckneyville, Ill., a son to Jacob L. and Alice (McDaniel) Bender Sr. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, Ill. and worked as a meat cutter at Bender's Grocery Store. He also worked for World Color Press, Gilster Mary Lee and was a farmer. Jakie was a member of the Pinckneyville Coon Club and enjoyed hunting and loved his hunting dogs.
Survivors include two sisters, Betty Mucha and Barbara (Edward) Hagene all of Pinckneyville, Ill.; nine nieces and nephews, Betsy Cacioppo, John (Betti Jo) Mucha, Billy Mucha, David (Chris) Mucha, Cheryl (Colin) Baggett, Rebekah (Adam) Kellerman, Edward Hagene Jr., Scott Hagene and Jillian (Brent) McKinnon; 14 great nieces and nephews, Lauren and Melanie Cacioppo, Daisi and Garrett Mucha, Ethan, Emily, Izzi and Jessi Baggett, Jacob, Jackson and Aubrey Kellerman, Brylee Hagene and Weston and Landon McKinnon; and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Cindy Bean officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Friends may call at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ or COPD Foundation.
