Doris L. Dowell
Doris L. Dowell, age 83, of Lowell, Ind., formerly of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 at 10:25 a.m. at Lowell Health Care, Lowell, Ind.
Doris was born on May 17, 1929 in Pinckneyville, Ill., a daughter to Robert H. and Edna Pearl (Ginn) Rule. On Sept. 13, 1947, she married Bob Rodden in Pinckneyville, Ill. and he preceded her in death. She later married Jack Dowell in Gary, Ind. and he preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and factory worker, having worked in several different plants over the years. Doris was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Pinckneyville, Ill., and loved singing in the church choir. She enjoyed volunteer work out at the prison in Pinckneyville, Ill. and was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary, Pinckneyville, Ill., and the Rebekah Lodge #341, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Survivors include her five children, Joan Stone of Phoenix, Ariz., Jack Ray (Lois) Dowell of Littleton, Colo., Michael Dennis (Dinah) Dowell of San Jose, Calif., David (Karen) Dowell of Acampo, Calif., Linda (James) Bourrell of Lowell, Ind.; a sister, Jody Taylor of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Tom Dowell of Portage, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margaret Helen Dowell and two brothers, Robert Steve Rule and one in infancy.
Funeral services will be held and the First United Presbyterian Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Charles Walden officiating. Interment will be in Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday at the First United Presbyterian Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
