Phillip M. Henson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Phillip M. Henson, 76, of Willisville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 at 3:28 a.m. at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Phil was born May 5, 1935 in Perry County, Illinois, the son of Ora and Julia Taylor Henson. He married Phyllis Eaton on Sept. 22, 1956.

Phil retired from Captain Mine in Denmark. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was an active member of Missionary Baptist Church in Willisville and was also a member of the UMWA Local 1392.

Phil loved working on his farm and riding horses and wagons with his buddies, James, Nelson, Steve and Mike. They will carry him in a horse and wagon to his final resting place in the Cutler Cemetery.

Phil is survived by his wife, Phyllis Henson of Willisville; his son, David M. Henson of Sparta; grandchildren, Jessica (Adam) Graff of Ava and Nettie Conway of Willisville; great-grandchildren, Kaylei and Katelin Conway of Willisville; two sisters, Olga (Edward) Richardson and Bonnie Soper of Canton, Ohio; sister and brothers-in-law, Marge (Jim) Qualls of Sparta and Thomas Byer of Granite City; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service was held on Friday, March 2 at 11 a.m. at Missionary Baptist Church in Willisville with Pastor Lee Valerius and Pastor Clifton Lingle officiating. Burial followed in Cutler Cemetery, Cutler, Ill.

Visitation was at Wilson&#39;s Funeral Home, Percy, where friends called on Thursday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and at Missionary Baptist Church, Willisville, on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Memorials may be made to Cutler Cemetery.
