Robert L. Colp

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Robert L. Colp, 67, of Royalton, Illinois passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 at his home.

Robert was born Aug. 9, 1944 in Herrin to William Noel and Neoshia F. (Conroy) Colp.

He married Patricia Jones Feb. 15, 1969 in Marble Hill, Mo. She preceded him in death Aug. 29, 1991.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Casey Colp of DeSoto Robert and Natalie Colp of Pinckneyville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Chad Abram of Galena, Kans. and Lee and David of Texas; seven grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Cheryl Colp of Christopher; a sister and two brothers-in-law, Clara Mae & Carl Smith of Elkville, Ill. and Walter Tackitt of Hurst and several nieces and nephews.

His parents and a sister, Mitzi Tackitt also preceded him in death.

Mr. Colp graduated Elkville High School in 1962 and graduated from SIU in 1966 with a Bachelors Degree in Education. He taught high school chemistry and physics at Du Quoin High School for 35 years until he retired in 2002.

After retirement Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing and reading.

Memorial services for Mr. Colp were held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, Jan. 30, 2012 at Vantrease Funeral Home in Royalton. Visiting hours were after 5:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home until the hour of the services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Colp are suggested to the "Du Quoin High School" and will be accepted at the funeral home or maybe mailed to the school at 500 E. South St., Du Quoin, IL 62832.
