Chester Recycling Center
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The City of Chester wants to remind residents of its recycling center located behind the Chester Fire Department.
The recycling center contains large blue trailers that have bins for recycling paper, glass, plastic, tin and another bin for cardboard.
As of January 1st, a new state law took effect that now bans electronics in landfills. Therefore, do not dispose of electronics in your regular trash.
The City of Chester is providing an additional bin at the recycling center for disposal of electronics.
Residents have access to the recycling site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Recycle bins are emptied every morning except weekends and holidays.
Here are a few reminders for residents:
If the bins/trailers are full please do not stack up recycling items around on the ground - come back later
Bags must be tied to insure materials do not blow away
Cardboard must be broken down and tied/bundled so it doesn't blow away
Large items must also be broken down so it can be easily handled for city workers
Absolutely no appliances, no styrofoam, paint or window glass
You may contact the Chester Maintenance Department at 618-826-3712 or Chester City Hall at 618-826-2326 with questions or further information.
