Margaret Jane Harriss

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Margaret Jane Harriss, 58, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:39 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Margaret had been a homemaker and babysitter. She had also worked at GS Metals. She was a member of the Holts Prairie Baptist Church at Pinckneyville. Margaret enjoyed reading, crafts, paintings of all kinds including ceramics and painting on shirts. Her main love was for her grandbabies.

She was born Sept. 26, 1953 at Augusta, Ga., the daughter of Kenneth and Marcella (Ogilvie) Lambert.

She married David C. Harriss on Aug. 14, 1982 at Du Quoin and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, two daughters - Samantha Deutschmann and husband Daniel of Mascoutah, Ill., and Jennifer Harriss of Ruma, Ill., her parents - Kenneth and Marcella Lambert of Pinckneyville, two grandchildren - Mason Deutschmann and Steven Weygandt, two sisters - Linda Sue Floyd and husband Gary of Grandbury, Tex. and Judy Malanowski and husband Mark of Tamaroa.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at the Holts Prairie Baptist Church at Pinckneyville with Rev. Raymond Baggott, Alan Jenkel and Gary Floyd officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday.

Burial was in the Holts Prairie Cemetery at Pinckneyville.

Friends may make memorials to the Jessica Marie Nickell Medical Fund, who is a family member. Donations may be made to Tina Nickell and will be accepted at the funeral home.
