John Wesley Moore

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[John Wesley Moore, 73, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:45 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

John had worked as a mechanic at Freeman United #11 Coal Mine for several years. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran. John had been a past member of the American Legion and V.F.W. He was also a member of U.M.W. of A. John had built and raced dirt late model and late model modified race cars and had raced at Mt. Vernon, Flora, and Paducah, Ky.

He was born Sept. 28, 1937 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Ted and Mary Belle (Kirkland) Moore.

He married Carla Kay Jokisch on Oct. 9, 1973 at Du Quoin, Ill. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, four children - Christopher A. Winters of Carbondale, Crystal D. Winters of Du Quoin, Zebada Moore-Bell of Du Quoin and Zane T. Moore of Du Quoin, one brother - Ronald Moore of Oakdale, and seven grandchildren - Cole Daffron, Carlie Daffron, Bianca Bell, Waylon Bell, Rubey Bell, Javen Moore and Brian Creek.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service was at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Pastor Michael Ice officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion.

Friends may make memorials to the Tri-County Special Education Communication Disorder Classroom in honor of his grandson, Javen Moore, who has autism.
