Carmella Helen Myers
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Carmella Helen "Millie" Myers, age 96, of Du Quoin, Ill., passed away on July 10, 2011 at 7:25 a.m. in Fairview Nursing Center, Du Quoin, Ill.
Millie was born on Feb. 6, 1915 in Du Quoin, Ill., a daughter to Santo and Grace (Daidone) Macaluso. On July 28, 1934, she married John Rufus Myers in Du Quoin, Ill. and he preceded her in death on June 1, 1969. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Du Quoin, Ill., the Senior Citizens, American Legion Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. In her lifetime, in addition to being a homemaker, she had worked at Blue Bell Packing House, Du Quoin, Ill., New Era Dairy, Du Quoin, Ill., Davis Inn, Du Quoin, Ill., and Illinois Brokerage, Du Quoin, Ill. She was always lovingly known as "Pooch" to her husband and "Mom" to her sons. She enjoyed dancing, playing Bingo and meeting at Hardees with her sisters. Millie always took time to be a caregiver for those who needed help and she dearly loved her family and friends..
Survivors include her sons, Delmar "Del" Lee (Judy) Myers of Columbus, Ga. and John Mark Myers of Du Quoin, Ill.; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren whom she loved as her own and several nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. She is also survived by her loving family of caregivers and friends at Fairview Nursing Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four sisters, Mary Baker, Angelina Ferrero, Josphine Cornaglia and Jenny Thomas and three brothers, Sam Macaluso, John Macaluso, Charlie Macaluso, as well as a brother in infancy.
Funeral services were held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Nick Junker officiating. Interment was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Du Quoin, Ill.
Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
