Robert Eugene Perkey

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Robert Eugene Perkey, 49, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:06 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Robert had worked as a laborer at Gilster-Mary Lee Corporation. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was born Oct. 27, 1961 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Albert Lee and Mabel O. (Slover) Perkey.

He is survived by one son - Robert Eugene Perkey of Du Quoin, two brothers - Albert Perkey and wife Dorothy of Du Quoin and Roger Perkey and wife Patti of Pinckneyville, seven sisters - Norma Heatherley of Du Quoin, Patty Crowe of Murphysboro, Judy Rybacki and husband Leonard of Du Quoin, Donna Ripley and husband Gene of Murphysboro, Linda Burnett and husband Ed of Coulterville, Betty Scronce and husband Bob of Bartlett, Ill. and Connie Smith and husband Chuck of West Point, Miss., several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Everett Freeman officiating.

Friends called from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
