Clarence Roy Jones
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Clarence Roy Jones, 86, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:12 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin.
Clarence was a retired roof bolter for Consol Coal Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin and the Anglers Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Du Quoin American Legion and the UMW of A Local 1575. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy as a Coxswain and received the American Theater Victory Medal.
He was born Jan. 22,1925 at Du Quoin, Ill. the son of Carl Guy and Pearl (Elder) Jones.
Clarence married Wanda L. Neibel on Jan. 28, 1965 at Pinckneyville, Ill. and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two sons- Roy Jones and wife Leona of Helena, Ala., Paul Jones and wife Jean of Du Quoin, three daughters- Faye Bathon and husband Dennis of Mt. Vernon, Ill., Faith Jones of Springfield, Ill. and Carla Hopkins and friend Dave Donaldson of Vandalia, Ill., step daughter- Carolyn Anderson and husband Paul of Freeburg, Ill., 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, a grandchild, a great grandson- Jacob Craig.
Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin VFW, American Legion and the U.S. Navy.
Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church building fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
