Henry H. Abbott
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Henry H. Abbott, 80, passed away at 9:09 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at his son's residence in Johnston City.
He was born Dec. 31, 1930 to Ocie and Lillie (Parr) Abbott in West Frankfort. Henry married Jo Jeannine Miller on April 14, 1962 and she preceded him in death on April 7, 2006.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and was awarded a Korean Service Medal with a Bronze star. He retired from the Freeman Six mine as a roof bolter after 20 years of service.
Henry is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Daniel E. Abbott of Carbondale and Stuart and Jerrie Abbott of Johnston City; two daughters and a son-in-law, Robin L. and Ernie Krummrich and Tinna J. Abbott, all of Carbondale, children, son Danny Wallace and Gena Baines, both of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Lloyd and Eugene Abbott of Du Quoin; one sister, Bette Garrett of Decatur, Ga.; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers,Harold and James Abbott and four sisters, Opal McDonald, Nadine Jones, Imogene Cook and Vera Ruby.
Services were at 11 a.m. Friday, June 10 in Meredith Funeral Home with Pastor Byron Mixon officiating. Interment was in at Oakland Cemetery with military honors. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
