Delores E. Bass

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Delores E. Bass, age 78, of Du Quoin, Ill., passed away on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 6:24 a.m. in her home.

Delores was born on June 7, 1932 in Pinckneyville, Ill., a daughter to Phillip and Verna (Keller) Williamson. On June 18, 1951, she married Melvin D. Bass in Pinckneyville, Ill. and after 50 wonderful years of marriage he preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2001. She had retired as a garment worker at Bridal Originals, Du Quoin, Ill. after 30 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Du Quoin, Ill. and of the I.L.G.W.U. and dearly loved her dog, Lucky.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan (John) Hendriksen of Danville, Calif.; her best friend, Catherine Palmer of Du Quoin, Ill.; two sisters, Nedra Lacy of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Ethel Bigham of Pinckneyville, Ill.; two grandchildren, Melissa Ann (Brandon) McCollum and Eric John Hendriksen, who is serving in the United States Navy, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Ruth Bird.

Delores' wishes were to be cremated. Graveside services were held at Mueller Hill Cemetery, on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev Joe Wagner officiating. Friends and family were asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
