Loretta J. Schneider

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Loretta J. "Dee" Schneider, 84, of Vergennes, passed away at 10:20 p.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Loretta had worked as an accountant. She had done taxes at the Jackson and Perry County Farm Bureaus for 16 years. Loretta was owner and operator of Schneider Farm Tax Service for over 40 years. She had worked as an accountant and was an assistant grain dealer for R.A. Williams. Loretta had been Tax Assessor for Vergennes-Ora Township for eight years. She was a federal and state tax practitioner for over 50 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin, a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the choir. Loretta was also a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was a Past National President of the 42nd Rainbow Division Veterans. She was a member and Past President of the Rainbow Division Veterans Auxiliary. Loretta had been a 4-H leader for 20 years, a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and member of the Murphysboro Elks. She was also Chairman and a member of the Elverado Water District. Loretta was also a charter member of the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

She was born March 30, 1926 at Murphysboro, Ill., the daughter of Tony A. and Mary A. (Moore) VanCloostere.

She married John G. Schneider on Oct. 14, 1947 at Murphysboro, Ill. and he preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1993.

She is survived by three daughters - Antoinette Payne and husband Don of Vergennes, Loretta M. Marsh and husband Roger of Little Rock, Ark. and Renee Cobin and husband Tim of Elkville, one sister - Jerry Eisenhauer and husband Bill of Du Quoin, sister-in-law - Maxine VanCloostere of Vergennes, seven grandchildren - Richard Ryan Geilhausen and (Amber) of Highland, Ill., Anjie Dee Stendeback and husband Jason of Alton, Ill., Jennifer Lynn Thornton and husband John of Cupertino, Calif., Joel Kotton Green and wife Amy of Paris, Tex., John Gabriel Green of Little Rock, Ark., Timothy John Cobin and wife Melissa of Du Quoin and Jeremy Michael Cobin and wife Sacha of Christopher, seven great grandchildren - Savanah Cobin, Lexie Cobin, James Thornton, Sophia Green, Eli Green, Rayanna Stopher and Jack Stendeback.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother - Robert E. VanCloostere, one sister - Mary L. Endres (Gene), sister-in-law - Lorene Martin (Jim), and multiple aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Nick Junker officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Alzheimer&#39;s Association or Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund or Scholarship Fund for Rainbow Division Veterans Auxiliary and will be accepted at the funeral home.
