Forrest Lon Oney

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Forrest Lon Oney, 66 of Pinckneyville formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:18 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.

Forrest had worked as a electronic supervisor for the US government for twenty seven years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Du Quoin. He served as an Elder, Treasurer and Greeter at the church. He was on the administrative committee and CMS of the church. He had served as an election judge. Forrest was a US Air Force veteran of the Viet Nam War.

He was born June 2, 1944 at Phoenix, Ariz. the son of Forrest and Georgene (Arrowood) Oney.

Forrest married Barbara J. Prins Wright on June 23, 2007 at the First Christian Church in Du Quoin and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Pinckneyville, mother- Georgene Oney of Du Quoin, three children- Genielle Oney of San Antonia, Tex., Forrest Andrew Oney of Harrisburg, Pa. and David C. Oney of Austin, Tex., three step children- Samantha Wright, Shannon Wright and Sydney Wright all of Pinckneyville, sister- Saundra Brown of St. Paul, Minn., two grandchildren- Stephen Duclous and Jaden Oney.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Memorial services were at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Max Rixman and Rev. Rob Rixman officiating.

Friends called from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church on Saturday.

Interment will be at a later date in Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin with military graveside honors.

Friends may make memorials to the First Christian Church of Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
