Nelson Edward Woodside

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Nelson Edward Woodside, 83, of O&#185;Fallon, Ill., born Sept. 8, 1926 in Perry County, Ill., died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

Nelson was owner/operator of the <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856867_0" style="border-bottom: medium none; background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent;">Du Quoin Auto</span> Supply Company. After selling the business in the 80&#185;s, Nelson and his wife, Geraldine, relocated in O&#185;Fallon. He was a member of the <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856867_1" style="border-bottom: medium none; background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent;">Ancient Free and Accepted Masons</span> of Illinois, Post, Mitchell Lodge Post 85 in Pinckneyville and was a very active member of the <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856867_2" style="border-bottom: 2px dotted rgb(54, 99, 136);">First Baptist Church</span> of O&#185;Fallon, serving as a Trustee, Deacon, and Greeter. He also served on the Building Committee and was the Head Usher for 20 years. Nelson also loved to fish alongside his beloved wife Geraldine and he served in the US Air Force.

Nelson was preceded in death by his parents <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856867_3">James David</span> & Annie M., nee Hubler, Woodside, two brothers; Lester and Everett Woodside and two sisters-in-law; Edna Dietrich and Erma Kelly.

He is survived by his wife Geraldine, nee Birkner, <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856867_4" style="border-bottom: 2px dotted rgb(54, 99, 136);">Woodside</span> of O&#185;Fallon, Ill., whom he married on Nov. 1, 1947, a sister Doris (Orval) Bigham, a brother Dean (Mabel) Woodside, a sister-in-law Audrey (James) Stone, all of Pinckneyville, Ill., nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856867_6">First Baptist Church</span> of O&#185;Fallon.

Funeral service was at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of O&#185;Fallon with Rev. Doug Munton and Rev. Skip Leininger officiating.

Burial was at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.
