Generose Dunn

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Generose Dunn, age 93 of Pinckneyville, Ill. passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 10:06 a.m. in Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Generose was born on Nov. 28, 1916 in Pinckneyville, Ill., the second daughter of Thomas and Frances (Bruns) Dunn. After receiving a temporary teaching certificate at the age of 20, Generose began her teaching career at a one room school house in Conant, Ill. She walked the railroad tracks to the school from the family farm, sometimes getting a ride from railroad workers.

Generose received a BS degree from S.I.U. Carbondale and later a Master degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign, Ill. She was a teacher for over 40 tears in public and private schools and at the <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856725_0">University of Chicago Lab</span> Schools. During her lifetime, Generose was a member of St. Bruno<span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856725_1" style="border-bottom: 2px dotted rgb(54, 99, 136);"> Catholic Church</span>, Pinckneyville, Ill. where she volunteered as a lector, eucharistic minister and rosary leader.

Generose is survived by a sister, Adelaide Dunn of Pinckneyville, Ill.; a brother, Dr. Hubert Dunn of DeKalb, Ill.; three nephews Jerry (Nancy) Dunn of O&#185;Fallon, Ill., Dr. John (Linda) M. Dunn of Kalamazoo, Mich. and Dan (Keri) Dunn of Georgetown, Tex.; four nieces, Frances (Robert) Schmitz of Belleville, Ill., Patricia Maveus of DeKalb, Ill., Cathy (Al) Johanssen, of Batavia, Ill. and Barbara (Michael) Holtz of Sycamore, Ill. and many great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Muriel Dunn and Marian (Elmer) Johnson; five brothers, Paul, Frank, Lloyd, <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856725_2">Charles</span>, and Monsignor Meinrad; two nephews, <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856725_3" style="border-bottom: 2px dotted rgb(54, 99, 136);">David Dunn</span> and <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856725_4" style="border-bottom: 2px dotted rgb(54, 99, 136);">James Dunn</span> and one niece, Mary (Allen) Dunn.

The family is especially grateful to Sue Buschschulte and the many <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856725_5">home health care</span> workers who provided for her physically and to Father Brian and the <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856725_6">St. Bruno Eucharistic ministers</span> who provided for her spiritually.

Funeral services were held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, Ill.<span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856725_7" style="border-bottom: 2px dotted rgb(54, 99, 136);"> on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 10:30 a.m</span>. with Father Brian Barker officiating. Interment was in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery.

Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856725_8" style="border-bottom: 2px dotted rgb(54, 99, 136);">on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m</span>. and <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856725_9" style="border-bottom: 2px dotted rgb(54, 99, 136);">on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m</span>. The rosary was recited at 9:30 a.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Bruno Catholic School or <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1273856725_10">St. Bruno Catholic Church</span>.
