Marjorie M. Howerton

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Marjorie M. Howerton, 87, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:50 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Marjorie was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin. She was born March 18, 1923 at Tamaroa, Ill., the daughter of Henry and Rosamond (Miller) Downs.

She married Loren Howerton on Oct. 17, 1941 at Perryville, Mo. and he preceded her in death on July 2, 1986.

She is survived by three daughters - Sheila Metten and husband Tom of Du Quoin, Crystal Kwasman and husband Mike of West Chicago, Ill. and Cathy Markee and husband Richard of Bernardsville, N.J.; one son - Mark Howerton and wife Donna of Du Quoin; six grandchildren - Chad Metten and wife Susan of Evansville, Ind., Curt Metten and wife Brandy of Du Quoin, Derek Howerton and wife Holly of Du Quoin, Maegan Markee of Bernardsville, N.J., Colleen Markee of Bernardsville, N.J. and Ronnie Kwasman of Chicago and eight great grandchildren - Morgan Metten, Maci Metten, Luke Metten, Lily Metten, Draven Howerton, Chance Howerton, Seth Howerton and Joseph Howerton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and one grandson - Scott Kwasman.

Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends called from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin or Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life and will be accepted at the funeral home.
