</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Elsie Irene Giacomo, age 97, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 1:25 p.m. in Coulterville Care Center, Coulterville, Ill.

Elsie was born on Aug. 14, 1912 in Oakdale, Ill., a daughter to William F. and Dora L. (Dempsay) Campbell. On Nov. 7, 1928, she married William M. Giacomo in Pinckneyville, Ill. and he preceded her in death on April 28, 1970. She was of the Baptist faith and had worked as a dietary aid at Pinckneyville Community Hospital for 12 years and also in homecare as a caregiver and housekeeper. She was a resident of Manor at Mason Woods, Pinckneyville, Ill. for five years and enjoyed quilting, gardening, sewing and loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son, Carl (Barbara) Giacomo of Pinckneyville, Ill., a son-in-law, Frank Martin of Pinckneyville, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and many dear nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Paul Giacomo and Roger Giacomo; four daughters, Dora Margaret Giacomo, Betty Lou Giacomo, Alice Long and Shirley Martin; two granddaughters, Debra Martin and Rhonda Martin; and one great-granddaughter, Anissa Bigham.

Funeral services were held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Brian Barker officiating. Interment was in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
