James Charles Petry
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[James Charles Petry, 89, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010 at the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County in Murphysboro.
James had been a farmer and retired in 1980. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Du Quoin. He was also a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge in Murphysboro.
He was born May 1, 1920 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Edwin J. and Mary (Bergman) Petry.
He married Wanda C. Shields on Aug. 18, 1941 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and she preceded him in death on Oct. 2, 2005.
He is survived by one son - Daniel D. Petry and wife Nancy of Ellisville, Mo., two daughters - Judith L. Cochran and husband Lynn of St. Charles, Mo., and Marcella Harley of Ft. Myers, Fla., one sister - Anna Mae Hopp of Belleville, eight grandchildren - Tereasa Maudy and husband Keith, James E. Cochran, Jeff Cochran and wife Kelly, Dan D. Petry, Jr. and wife Mary, P. Damian Petry and wife Lynn, Mary Rothman and husband David, Stephanie Winn and husband Mark, and Mike Harley, and 15 great grandchildren - Nick Vollmer, Tony Ingracia, Bret Cochran, Kayla Cochran, Jake Petry, Cody Hongsermeier, Casey Hongsermeier, Alyssa Petry, Damian Petry, Jr., A.J. Rothman, Sam Rothman, Ben Rothman, Heather Winn, Kylie Winn, and Noble Winn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one granddaughter - Rebecca Eufinger, one brother - Raymond Petry, and two sisters - Irene Eisenhauer and Aurelia Wendling.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. James VanOss officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Rosary was prayed at 9:15 a.m., Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County Activity Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
