Leonard Eugene Knapp

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Leonard Eugene Knapp, 65, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:20 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Leonard had worked for 41 years as a meat cutter at Kroger. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.

He was born Oct. 21, 1944 at Tamaroa, Ill., the son of Lawrence and Eugenia (Tkaczyk) Knapp.

He married Eileen R. Ratajczyk on June 25, 1964 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two sons - Gerald Knapp and wife Sreymom of Arizona City, Ariz., and Vincent Knapp and wife Mei of Gilbert, Ariz., his mother - Eugenia Knapp of Tamaroa, four grandchildren - Kara Knapp, Leonard Knapp, Autumn Knapp and Abbegale Knapp, 10 siblings - Jim Knapp of Dowell, Nancy Quinn of Du Quoin, Phyllis Ferguson of Tamaroa, Loretta Adcock of Tamaroa, Betty Roberts of Tamaroa, Jerry Knapp of Tamaroa, Susie Kuberski of Du Bois, Bob Knapp of Tamaroa, Mary Jo Rybecki of Du Quoin, and Nelson Knapp of Tamaroa.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister - Cathy Ratajczyk.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin at a later date.
