Three voter registration events planned Sept. 24
The League of Women Voters of Jackson County is sponsoring three voter registration drives Sept. 24 in observance of National Voter Registration Day.
Two drives will be held in Carbondale. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., registrars will be available at the Neighborhood Co-op Grocery, located at 1815 W. Main St.
From 3 to 7 p.m. registrars will be available at the Carbondale Public Library, located at 405 W. Main St. A third voter registration drive will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sallie Logan Public Library in Murphysboro.
To register to vote the first time, two forms of identification are required. These forms include but aren't limited to a driver's license, a student ID, a FOID card, a library card, a credit card, a utility bill, a personal check or a pay stub. One form of ID must include the voter's current address.
At all three events, previously registered voters who have moved since the last election may complete the required "change of address" form to stay eligible to vote. For more information, contact Dorcy Prosser at dorcyprosser2001@yahoo.com.
