CPD investigating multiple vehicle burglaries
<p dir="ltr"><span>In a Tuesday news release, the Chester Police Department announced officers responded to eight separate vehicle burglaries over the weekend.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>The reports were predominantly concentrated in a specific neighborhood across from the Randolph County Health Department. Residents on Alan, Edna and Neil streets, as well as Lakeview Drive, were affected in that neighborhood, among others.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>The majority of the victims reported missing money that had been kept in their vehicles. According to police, no forced entry and no property damage was reported.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Apparently, the perpetrator or perpetrators only entered into unlocked vehicles.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>The Chester Police Department urged residents that locking your home, vehicle and outbuildings at night serves as a great deterrent for would-be burglars.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>The overwhelming majority of burglars enter into unlocked dwellings. The CPD is currently following up on a few leads and encourages anyone with information regarding the burglaries to contact the Chester Police Department at 618-826-5454.</span>
