RCSO investigating Evansville shooting

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Randolph County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate a shooting incident in rural Evansville.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">According to scanner traffic, Evansville first responders and MedStar Ambulance were called out to a residence at 7:31 a.m. Monday on the report of a juvenile who had been shot in the head.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Randolph County Sheriff Shannon Wolff told the Herald Tribune at the scene that it was an active investigation and no further information would be released at the time.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">On Tuesday, a news release from the sheriff's office stated a 10-year-old female juvenile had been shot and was transported to a St. Louis-area hospital by Arch Air Service. The juvenile later died as a result of her injuries.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">"It's an ongoing investigation and there will be no further information released at this time," Wolff told the Herald Tribune on Tuesday.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The incident remains under investigation by the sheriff's office, with assistance from the Illinois State Police and St. Louis County Medical Examiner's Office.</span>
