Pinckneyville Chamber honors residents Sunday, announces Mardi Gras theme
Members of the Pinckneyville and Du Quoin chambers of commerce honored residents for their service as businessmen and women, service to the community and service to education.
During the two hour luncheon held at the Pinckneyville Community High school, members got to thank Jessica Holder for her work as chamber president and heard the theme for the 2016 Mardi Gras festival--"Oh, the Places You'll Go."
A guest of the luncheon was Democrat 58th senate district candidate Sheila Simon.
Dixie's Cup Cafe owner Dixie King was awarded 2016 Business of the Year. Dixie provides the region with home cooked meals and donates meals to community events and to the less fortunate.
Nancy Bigham first grade teacher at Community Consolidated School District #204 was awarded 2016 Educator of the Year Award. She has been a loving teacher for 30 years and can be found working with her students even during the summertime.
Steve and Diann Priebe were awarded 2016 Person of the Year. The couple along with their family have been actively raising donations for St. Jude's Children's Hospital for the past 10 years.
There were well-placed remarks about each of the recipients that accompanied the great food and great fellowship among members of a Chamber of Commerce that work very hard for their community.
