The Chester Police Department is investigating the report of vehicle vandalism Tuesday night at the Ardent Mills facility in Chester.

The Herald Tribune was contacted early Wednesday morning and was sent photos of a truck tailgate - sporting an American flag with the blue line in support of law enforcement officers - that had been damaged reportedly while the vehicle owner was at work.

The victim reportedly had the flag added Tuesday and damage included a vulgar message, "(expletive) Po Po," scratched into the paint.

A news release from the CPD indicated an Ardent Mills employee reported damage to his 2003 GMC pickup while it sat in the facility's parking lot.

"The reporting party indicated that he recently installed a police blue-line decal wrap for the tailgate," said Chester Police Chief Ryan Coffey in the release. "When he returned to his vehicle at the end of his shift, he discovered the tailgate and wrap had been struck several times with a blunt object, damaging both the wrap and the tailgate."

Some evidence was collected at the scene, but police have no suspects at this time. Anyone with information about the incident is advised to contact the CPD at 618-826-5454.
