Sexual assault, robbery cases investigated in Du Quoin

Du Quoin Chief of Police Jamie Ellermeyer Thursday issued statements Thursday on a recent predatory criminal sexual assault and a recent breakin in Du Quoin.

On June 5 the Du Quoin Police Department arrested Andy S. Kirkpatrick, 29, of Du Quoin for predatory criminal sexual assault of a Child.

At approximately 7:18 p.m. the Du Quoin Police Department arrived at Marshall Browning Hospital to investigate a report of an alleged sexual assault.

Police learned that a seven year old female had allegedly been assaulted by Kirkpatrick at 210 S. Madison Street in Du Quoin. The incident allegedly had just taken place prior to the above time. Investigators located Kirkpatrick at 924 East South Street in Du Quoin. Kirkpatrick was placed under arrest and later transported to the Perry County Jail, where he remains under a $500,000.00 bond.

Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a child is a class X felony, which could result in a sentence of 6 to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

On June 2 at 6:01 a.m. the Du Quoin Police Department arrived at 9 Trailacres Trailer Court to investigate a report of a subject entering the residence occupied by Willie J. McPhaul, 42 of Du Quoin.

Police learned the subject allegedly entered without authority and struck McPhaul in the face with an object, causing bodily harm. The suspect left the residence with cash and personal property belonging to McPhaul. McPhaul and a second subject at the residence identified the subject as Bryan C. Jones, 30, of Du Quoin. Jones was found in the area a short time later where he was arrested for home invasion, aggravated robbery and criminal trespass to a residence. Jones remains in the Perry County Jail on a $500,000.00 bond.

Mr. Jones' charges of a Class X felony, which could result in 6 to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
