Election Day is here! If you haven't already cast an early ballot, be sure to get out Tuesday, April 2 to weigh in on races that include mayor of Carbondale, as well as three seats on the Carbondale City Council. Also on the ballot is an important referendum asking whether the city and park district should consider merging their operations. Early voting is still underway. You can cast your ballot for mayor, city council and other races daily through April 1 at the Jackson County Courthouse. Early voting also will be available at the Carbondale Civic Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, March 29.

The Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale played host to its annual Phenomenal Women's Showcase Thursday evening. This year, the BGCC honored Carolin Harvey with the Phenomenal Woman of the Year Award.

Mayor Mike Henry and City Manager Gary Williams will meet with citizens over coffee from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 4 at the Kroger Starbucks on Giant City Road.

The Southern Illinois Immigrant Rights Project will hold a citizenship clinic April 12 for individuals interested in becoming U.S. citizens. Interested individuals should contact SIIRP as soon as possible in order to allow time for intake and document check prior to the April clinic date.
