Compliance check yields two arrests

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Two Randolph County men - 33-year-old Timothy S. Hobeck, of Chester, and 28-year-old, David W. Miller-Downey, of Sparta - were arrested on Feb. 23 after an Illinois Department of Corrections parole compliance check at Hobeck's residence at 3670 Palestine Road.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">According to a news release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, sheriff's deputies and IDOC officials discovered meth ice, drug packaging materials and a scale at Hobeck's residence in Chester.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Search warrants were later obtained and executed at the residence, as well as a truck driven by Miller-Downey that arrived while the compliance check was taking place.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The truck Miller-Downey - who was wanted on a Jackson County warrant for failure to appear on an aggravated criminal sexual abuse charge and was driving with a revoked driver's license - was driving contained suspected stolen property.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Chester Police Department assisted the two agencies in the investigation, with K9 officer Sabo giving positive indication of the presence of drugs in the truck.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">A scale and drug paraphernalia - with suspected meth ice residue - was seized from the truck, along with the stolen property.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Both men were taken to the Randolph County Jail, where they remained incarcerated as of Monday.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Law enforcement seized the drug-related items and investigation of the suspected stolen property continues. Additional charges may follow.</span>
